Connect Aruba Instant On to WeefyBox

Aruba Instant On grants guest internet access using its documented guest portal acknowledgement method: your guest connects, accepts your terms on a WeefyBox page, and Instant On grants access once WeefyBox sends back the confirmation string Instant On expects. No RADIUS server and no partner API access are required.

  1. Open WeefyBox Setup and choose Aruba Instant On.
  2. Pick your Instant On software version — if you're not sure, start with "current." You can switch it later if guests aren't granted access after accepting.
  3. Click Save credentials. WeefyBox generates your Server URL and Redirect URL.
  4. In the Instant On app, open Networks, select the guest network, and open Guest Portal.
  5. Choose External, then Custom.
  6. Paste the WeefyBox Server URL into the Server URL field.
  7. Paste the WeefyBox Redirect URL into the Redirect URL field.
  8. Set Authentication to Guest portal acknowledgment.
  9. Add every WeefyBox walled-garden domain shown in WeefyBox to Allowed domains.
  10. Save and allow the access points to synchronize.
  11. Connect a phone to the guest network and confirm the WeefyBox page appears, accept, and confirm internet access is granted (this can take a few seconds — that delay comes from the access point, not WeefyBox).

There is nothing to "test" from WeefyBox's side for this method — Instant On never calls WeefyBox over an API here, so the only real confirmation is a live guest connecting.

| Symptom | Check | |---|---| | Splash never appears | Guest Portal is set to External, and the Server URL is entered exactly as shown | | Splash works but access is never granted | Try the other software-version option — Instant On's expected confirmation string differs by version | | Access is granted but very slowly | This is a known Aruba access-point delay after acknowledgement, not a WeefyBox issue | | iPhone works but Android fails | Add Google connectivity-check domains to Allowed domains | | Splash shows a "not found" or connection error | Confirm the Server/Redirect URLs were pasted exactly, with no extra characters |
